Was it in Gone With the Wind
that Rhett tells Scarlett that
Tara is in her blood?  That she
will always love the soil?

I guess that is how I feel about my
gardens.  I love to work the soil and get all
dirty working the plots.  I love to see new
seeds sprout and have the perennials
come back year after year.  I love when
you can harvest your own vegetables and
cook them for dinner.  I mourn the loss of
a favorite plant and worry when a bad
storm comes and winds threaten my crops.
There is nothing to compare to having a
wild water lily bloom in your own back
yard.  It is like having a bit of heaven in
your own busy world.
I love to come back here after a busy day
and feel the tension fade away.  Better
yet is to have friends and family gather for
lots of fun.  I feel this is an extension of
my home and I'd rather entertain here
then in any room.

My newest venture is creating furniture
planters.  I made this chair with a maple
that fell during a storm last week.  The
seat holds vines and will fill in with grass
seeds.  There are morning glories planted
below the chair to wind around the limbs
and create a beautiful vision on greenery.
